IAA Advocacy:
Digital Civil Rights
Several waves of new developments in digital communication are exacerbating trends of already-existing civil rights violations, with communities most affected being left out of conversations around the use of data and surveillance technologies in everything from policing to housing.
Mainstream institutions aren't moving fast enough to deal with this crisis, and frankly, many people in power are less likely to care unless they see a meaningful public demand for accountability mechanisms related to digital governance.
The IAA is invested in facilitating community conversations, as well as mobilizing advocates and lawmakers, around protecting everyone's digital civil rights.
